The ACT Volunteer Brigades Association
Membership Benefits
The ACT Volunteer Brigades’ Association (the ACTVBA) represents, and advocates in the interests of the health and wellbeing of the volunteer rural bushfire fighter members of the ACT Rural Fire Service (ACTRFS) in consultation with its six (6) ACTRFS member brigades: Gungahlin, Hall, Molonglo, Rivers, Southern, and Tidbinbilla.
All individual members of the ACTRFS are also automatically members of the ACTVBA and can seek VBA representation in respect of issues of concern to them.
Our ACTRFS volunteer firefighting brigades are located across the Australian Capital Territory on the urban-rural interface including at Belconnen (Molonglo), Gungahlin, Weston Creek/Stromlo (Rivers), Hall, Tharwa (Southern), Monaro Highway (Guises Creek), Tidbinbilla, and Jerrabomberra (inner South).
We:

create special interest committees to study issues of interest and concern to our volunteer firefighters and to work on agreed projects that will positively impact our volunteers
represent members’ interests in negotiations with the ACTRFS, the ACT Emergency Services Agency, the ACT Government and other associations, organisations, and individuals
provide advice to the ACTRFS Brigade Captains’' Group, the ACTRFS Presidents’ Group, and the ACT Bushfire Council as required
support volunteer firefighter attendance at conferences, forums, and training opportunities to assist with volunteer development
promote volunteer well-being and morale including by providing financial and other support for ACTRFS volunteer firefighters
organise and/or support events such as annual Field Days, annual dinners, volunteer awards, and volunteer education conferences
